Jam Session at Chicago's Lakefront Beach. Chicago, Illinois (1976)
In the 1960’s, many Puerto Ricans establish their residence in neighborhoods near the famous Chicago lakefront, i.e. Lincoln Park and Lakeview. During the hot summer months of the 1960’s and 1970’s, Puerto Ricans would congregate in many of these famous beaches with families and friends, i.e. Fullerton, North Avenue & Montrose Beaches. In this image you will see a group of Puerto Ricans participating in a “Bembe” (Jam Session) at Fullerton Beach. Chicago, Illinois (1976)
