Sunday Afternoon Gatherings in Humboldt Park. Chicago, Illinois (1978)
Since the mid-1960 and three decades later, Westtown/Humboldt Park was a community where many Puerto Ricans called home. During the summer months Humboldt Park was very festive with musical concerts, picnics, and athletic events. On week-ends, most of the Puerto Rican residents from the community, as well as outside the community, would visit the park to watch a softball game, picnic with families or just walk in the park. This image captures a crowd of people near the softball diamonds (near Sacramento and North Avenue) entertaining themselves with a table game. Chicago, Illinois ((1978)
